🏛️ All of Michoacán in one big house 🏺

If you're staying with us in Pátzcuaro, you're probably already captivated by our Purépecha culture. But if you want to understand the complete puzzle of our land's history, you have to visit this place in Morelia.

Located in a majestic 18th-century mansion in the heart of the Historic Center, the State Museum is much more than antique display cases. Since its opening in 1986, it has functioned as a "time machine" divided into three fascinating stops: Archaeology, History, and Ethnology.

🧪 The Curious Gem: The Old Pharmacy There's something here that you won't find in other museums and that delights visitors: an authentic 19th Century Pharmacy Completely restored. Seeing its porcelain jars, mortars, and wooden shelves will transport you to a time when medicine was a blend of science, herbalism, and mystery. It's the perfect spot for a vintage-style photo! 📸

📜 A Journey in Three Acts The tour is designed to help you understand where we come from:

  1. Archeology: From the arrival of man in America to the splendor of Tarascan Empire (yes, our ancestors from here in the lake region).
  2. History: From the Conquest and the Viceroyalty to key movements such as the Cardenismo, which shaped modern Michoacán.
  3. Ethnology: A colorful look at the state's seven cultural regions.

🎉 Living Culture This museum is not static. It has a very active auditorium and library. If you're lucky, your visit might coincide with concerts, book presentations, or children's folk art workshops. Ojo: During Holly Week and Night of the Dead, the museum is transformed with special displays that explain these traditions in a depth that will help you appreciate them even more when you experience them in Pátzcuaro.

📍 Why visit it from Pátzcuaro? Because it's the perfect "context." You'll see archaeological pieces that explain the power of Tzintzuntzan and Ihuatzio, and you'll better understand the traditions you see alive in our streets. It's an educational, light, and visually beautiful visit.
