Quiroga: Cocupao, Crossroads and Capital of Crafts 🛍️🛣️

The City Born from a Royal Gift: In the 16th century, the founding of Quiroga had a touch of Purépecha nobility: the city was established thanks to a land donation from a Purépecha Princess to the first Spanish settlers. In her honor, the Fountain of the Americas was erected in the main square, a monument that celebrates this foundational gesture of cultural fusion.

The Great Michoacán Market. Today, Quiroga is an impressive artisan and commercial center. Its streets are a huge showcase where you can buy a wide variety of items, from the famous wood and sheet metal carvings to excellent quality leather goods at unbeatable prices. 🛒✨

Architectural Treasures You Must Visit:

Parish of San Diego de Alcalá: Dating from the 16th century, it is famous for its unique Baroque style, its coffered altarpieces that cover the ceiling, and for housing the sacred image of the Precious Blood of Christ. (Remember that Miguel Hidalgo was parish priest here!).

Temple of the Immaculate Conception: Distinguishable by its characteristic Gothic tower, a unique architectural silhouette in the region that you will not find anywhere else nearby.
