Our identity in color: Municipal Palace

An open book to read who we are today.

In the Municipal Palace rests the most recent work of our heritage: “Brief History of Pátzcuaro”, by the Michoacán master Juan Torres Calderón.

The Experience: This mural is vibrant and modern. It's as if Maestro Torres held up a mirror to us, saying, “Look at yourselves, how beautiful we are.” Here, history doesn't feel distant. You'll see the Night of the Dead with its candles, the revelry of the festivities, and the serenity of the fishermen. It reminds us that the history of Pátzcuaro didn't end in the colonial era; it continues to be written every day.

The Secret: Look at the colors. Torres, a disciple of Alfredo Zalce, uses earth tones and blues that seem to have been taken from the lake's landscape itself. 📍 Location: Municipal Palace (Portal Hidalgo, Plaza Grande).
