🎼 The Secret of His Name (and His Nickname) Although its official name is Luis González Gutiérrez Garden (named after a teacher at the College of Saint Nicholas), if you ask for him by that name, nobody will be able to tell you where he is!

Everyone knows it as “Las Rosas” for two intertwined historical reasons:

1. The Temple and the Convent: The Dominican order of Saint Rose of Lima was established here more than 300 years ago.
2. The “Little Roses”: The convent functioned as a school for boarding girls. People affectionately began calling the students "the little roses." Legend has it that on Sundays they were allowed to look out from the balconies, and their suitors would arrive punctually to throw roses at them from the garden. 🌹💑

🎹 Music in the Air What makes this place unique is its soundtrack. Right across the street is the majestic Conservatory of Roses, it's one of the most prestigious music schools on the continent (founded by Maestro Bernal Jiménez). It's not uncommon to be enjoying a coffee and hear a piano, a violin, or a choir rehearsing in the distance. Furthermore, the garden is often enlivened by top-notch street artists, troubadours, and student musical groups.

☕ The “Morelian” Tradition Since the 1970s, this corridor has been filled with outdoor cafes and restaurants. The must-do experience here is to sit under a green umbrella and let the hours drift by. A good local coffee, some traditional desserts, or some... enchiladas placeras while you observe the bronze sculptures by Ignacio Asúnsolo (placed in 1947) and the quarry stone fountain that adorns the center.
