Your route to the Purépecha heart
Pátzcuaro, designated a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) in 2002 and one of the colonial gems of the Americas, is strategically located in the heart of Michoacán. It is approximately 385 km from Mexico City and a similar distance from Guadalajara, connected by an excellent road network.
To the north, just 20 minutes away, lies the legendary city of Tzintzuntzan, capital of the ancient Purépecha Empire. From the highway connecting these two destinations, you can see the imposing Yácatas (semicircular pyramids). We highly recommend stopping here to visit the archaeological site and its museum, silent witnesses to a living culture.

Look for the Autovías or La Línea (Herradura de Plata) bus line. They offer direct, luxury service to Pátzcuaro or Morelia. The trip is an excellent opportunity to see the changing landscape as you head towards the forests of Michoacán.
