The End of the Myth Romantic legend tells that Doña Juana Pavón, the leader's mother, was returning from the market when she felt labor pains and rushed into a gate to give birth. But modern research tells a different story! In 1765, this building was not a private home, but property of the Augustinian friars (probably a nursing home or hospital). Morelos's family lived nearby, on the street Look at the Plain (today Abasolo), in a humble adobe house. It is most likely that the birth there took place on September 30, 1765 It was entirely planned: Doña Juana left her house directly for this place to be cared for by the friars. So Morelos was born in an environment of faith and medicine, not by accident in a hallway.

🏚️ From Sandwiches to Museum The building has had a thousand lives. After the Reform Laws, it ceased to belong to the church and passed into private hands. Before becoming the stately museum you see today (inaugurated in 1965), the place housed businesses as varied as a grocery store called “La Providencia” and even a business of “Morelos Sandwiches”. Imagine eating a mexican ham sandwich where the Servant of the Nation was born! The beautiful Garden of New Spain , the area you enjoy today at the back was only added in 1973, after demolishing some neighboring houses to give dignity to the space.

🤖 The Morelos Who Speaks (Literally) If you're traveling with children (or if you're a tech enthusiast), you need to look for the Morelos Animatronic. Installed in 2010 for the Bicentennial, this German-made robot, dressed in its characteristic bandana and muleteer-priest attire, will tell you its story and the Sentiments of the Nation in its own voice. It's a unique educational experience that gives a face and voice to the stone statue.

📍 Why visit it from Pátzcuaro? Because Morelos is a son of Michoacán. In Pátzcuaro and Janitzio we celebrate his monumental grandeur; here at his birthplace, you discover his human side. It's a free museum, with an incredible library and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for escaping the Morelia sun.

👶 La Verdad detrás de la Leyenda 🗡️ Si ya visitaste la isla de Janitzio en el lago de Pátzcuaro, seguro quedaste impresionado con la colosal estatua de José María […]

[394,465
402
post-8731","citadela-item","type-citadela-item","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","citadela-item-category-alrededores","citadela-item-category-museos-sitios-arqueologicos","citadela-item-location-morelia
["GET
