At the venerable age of 95, Don Vasco de Quiroga, the humanist, bishop, and defender of the indigenous people who forever transformed the region, passed away. Although history records his death in Uruapan, his heart always belonged to P\u00e1tzcuaro, the place he chose for his eternal rest and where his remains now lie in the Mausoleum of the <b><a class=\"ng-star-inserted\" href=\"https:\/\/villapatzcuaro.com\/visitpatzcuaro\/en\/item\/basilica-de-nuestra-senora-de-la-salud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-hveid=\"0\" data-ved=\"0CAAQ_4QMahgKEwi8qbbQqKSRAxUAAAAAHQAAAAAQ_AU\">Basilica of Our Lady of Health<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"7\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>A Week of Culture and Gratitude<\/b> P\u00e1tzcuaro does not forget its benefactor. Around this date, the city organizes a <b>Cultural Week<\/b> that celebrates the life and work of \u201cTata Vasco.\u201d It is not an event of mourning, but of gratitude.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"8\"><b>What activities will you find?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"9\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9,0,0\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>The Organ Concert:<\/b> This is the star attraction. It takes place inside the Basilica, using the monumental organ.
