\ud83d\udcda A Temple of Ancient Books<\/b> \ud83d\udd6f\ufe0f<\/h3>\n

If you love reading or simply appreciate breathtaking architecture, you have to stop here. Unlike modern, minimalist libraries, entering this building in Morelia is like stepping back in time (or feeling like you're in a magical movie \ud83e\uddd9\u200d\u2642\ufe0f).<\/p>\n

Why is it so special? Because it literally You are entering a church full of books<\/b>. The building is the old Temple of the Society of Jesus<\/b>, a baroque jewel finished in 1695<\/b> which was part of the Jesuit complex next to the famous Clavijero Palace.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcd6 Mexico's Largest Paper Treasure<\/b> It's not just a beautiful building. It houses the Old Background<\/b> the most important one held by a public university in the entire country. We're talking about 22,901 vol\u00famenes<\/b> that have survived centuries. Among its wooden shelves (which rise to the vaulted ceiling) rest books dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries<\/b> (incunabula). It is impressive to think that while P\u00e1tzcuaro was consolidating its traditions, these books were already being printed in Europe.<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd04 From the Jesuits to General C\u00e1rdenas<\/b> The history of the place is fascinating:<\/p>\n

  1. He was a Jesuit (1695-1767):<\/b> It was a place of prayer until the expulsion of the order by King Charles III.<\/li>\n
  2. State Property:<\/b> After the expulsion, it passed into the hands of the government.<\/li>\n
  3. The Gift of L\u00e1zaro C\u00e1rdenas:<\/b> In the 20th century, General L\u00e1zaro C\u00e1rdenas donated the building to the Michoacan University (UMSNH) with a noble mission: to create a public library by rescuing private collections for the people.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \ud83c\udfa8 International Art on the Walls<\/b> Look up, because the walls also tell stories. The room is decorated with six monumental murals.<\/b> What's curious is their authorship: five were painted by American artists. Hollis Howard<\/b> and S.C. Schonenberg<\/b>, and only one, titled \u201cThe Homeland\u201d<\/i>It is the work of the Mexican Antonio Silva D\u00edaz<\/b>. A very interesting cultural mix under a baroque vault.<\/p>\n
