Completed in 1832, the temple reflects the new architectural trends of the 19th century, marking an aesthetic shift in the city's landscape.

The Incredible Story of the Founder What truly makes this sanctuary unique is the story of the faith that made it possible: that of Feliciano Ramos. Ramos arrived in Mexico from Havana as a slave, but he gained his freedom and dedicated himself to commerce and muleteering, amassing a considerable fortune. To fulfill a promise made to the Virgin of Guadalupe—patron saint of Mexico—he financed the construction of this magnificent sanctuary.

Exterior Architecture and Virtues Notice the details of its facade and tower: originally they featured seven sculptures representing the Seven Cardinal and Theological Virtues. El High altar, dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the sanctuary dominates with its sober and elegant lines, focusing all attention on the venerated patron saint's image.
