The journey begins at the dock, sailing across the water to reach this island whose poetic name means \"Corn Silk.\" Janitzio is the largest and most important island in the lake. Upon disembarking, you're greeted by a vibrant atmosphere: the aroma of local cuisine (charales and whitefish) and the colorful handicrafts accompany you as you climb its stone steps to the top.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"4\">Pero el verdadero tesoro te espera en lo m\u00e1s alto.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"5\">\ud83d\uddff <b>The Colossus of Morelos<\/b> At the island's summit stands an impressive monument of <b>40 meters high<\/b>: the statue of <b>Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Morelos y Pav\u00f3n<\/b>. This masterpiece of <b>Art D\u00e9co<\/b>, built of concrete and clad in pink quarry stone, it was a vision of the General <b>L\u00e1zaro C\u00e1rdenas<\/b> and executed by the sculptor Juan Tirado Valle. Morelos gazes at the horizon, with his right fist raised in a sign of triumph and his sword in his left, eternally watching over the lake.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"6\">\ud83c\udfa8 <b>Spiral History (The Vertical Mural)<\/b> Unlike any other monument, here <b>the story gets climbed<\/b>. The interior of the statue is hollow and houses an artistic treasure: As you ascend the 5-level spiral staircase, you are surrounded by <b>56 mural panels<\/b> painted by the master <b>Ram\u00f3n Alva de la Canal<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"7\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,0,0\">It's the perfect fusion of engineering and painting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7,1,0\">The murals tell the story of the hero's life, from his birth to his execution, geometrically designed to be viewed in motion as you walk to the top. It is said to be the <b>tallest mural in Latin America<\/b>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"8\">\ud83d\udc41\ufe0f <b>The View from the Fist<\/b> The reward for the effort is unparalleled. Upon reaching the top (where relics were once kept) and climbing to the <b>fist of the statue<\/b>, you'll find a secluded viewpoint.
