On the tranquil <b>Isla de Yunu\u00e9n<\/b>, time stood still in 1930. Inside its small primary school, murals painted by <b>Roberto Cueva del R\u00edo<\/b>, the same artist who decorated the Teatro Emperador, are preserved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"9\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>What will you see?<\/b> Unlike the monumental stone architecture of Janitzio, here the art is intimate and educational.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"10\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>The Obsession with Progress:<\/b> Cueva del R\u00edo captured here the cardenist vision of the \u201cRural School\u201d: you will see scenes of children playing sports, hygiene habits and the productive life of the island.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>The Context:<\/b> The school itself is a jewel of architectural functionalism; large windows and abundant light designed to \u201chygienize\u201d education.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\"><b>El Contexto:<\/b> La escuela en s\u00ed es una joya del funcionalismo arquitect\u00f3nico; ventanas grandes y luz abundante dise\u00f1adas para &#8220;higienizar&#8221; la educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"11\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>How to get there:<\/b> Take a boat from the General Pier or the San Pedrito Pier and ask for a direct trip to Yunu\u00e9n. Upon arrival, walk towards the upper part where the school is located.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"12\" class=\"translation-block\"><b>Important Note:<\/b> As this is a working school, access depends on class schedules and the friendliness of the teacher or staff member on duty.
