The commemoration of the Day of the Dead in Michoac\u00e1n is a solemn tradition that preserves a genuine outpouring of profound respect and veneration for beings who, in a material form, no longer exist and to whom, through the offering, are given tribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The ritual of the wake that takes place in many of our indigenous communities in the area around Lake P\u00e1tzcuaro is deeply rooted. Today people maintain characteristics and rites very similar to those observed in earlier times, with only minor variants according to their own beliefs and customs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To confirm your reservation a deposit for the total of your stay via transfer or credit card is needed. In case of cancelation and to recover the deposit, it must be made at least a week before the date of arrival, otherwise there will be no refund.<\/em>
    Due to the characteristics of the place and to maintain a calm environment, children under 14 years of age are not accepted.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Tips to make more enjoyable the night of death<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    Remember that this is not a literal party time. It is a celebration <\/strong>and the time to remember the beloved ones and share they memories and offerings with others, so it demands respect and silence, though you will see many people partying around due to the confusion of the concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In every island and town around the lake the night is celebrated in a different way and even at different time, and not always at a cemetery. Anyhow, there are some simple rules that will help you to feel comfortable \u201cintruding\u201d the cemeteries, houses and privacy of the local families that you will find there:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Wear appropriately. Meaning no shorts. Usually the climate is not good enough to wear them, but remember that you are entering a sacred area.<\/li>
    • If you want to take pictures, ask for the permission of the people you want to photograph. Almost nobody will say \u201cno\u201d, but respect, politeness and kindness are always appreciated. If you don\u2019t speak spanish ask for the proper words to say it at your hotel.<\/li>
    • When taking pictures AVOID using flash or bright lights. The light of the candles is part of the magic.<\/li>
    • It is always appreciated if you ask who is laying in the graveyard. It is a part of the ritual and the moment when people share the memories of the death ones. Some people will invite you to share they food as well. Don\u2019t refuse it, you have become they guest.<\/li>
    • Some people will offer you food. Don't reject them. You have become they guest<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      This tips will help you to be a part of the ceremony instead of a simple witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
